Why do an Organizational Assessment?

In order to get to where you want to be (Vision), you have to know your starting point. Focus Forward’s complimentary organizational assessment is a high level look that provides an objective unbiased view designed to add value to your organization. The Organizational Assessment is a practical, lean, swift assessment of an organization’s capacity. Audits are generally performed by outside consultants or volunteers to provide an objective overview of current efforts.

The report that is provided back gives you an opportunity to reflect on the information provided and make a decision on whether you have a need for Focus Forward services, without any pressure.

The Focus Assessment is not a designated plan; rather its result is a renewed focus on the most striking issues and strengths within an organization and recommendations designed to stabilize or strengthen key areas. Focus areas include:

  • Board structure and performance
  • Financial structure and performance
  • Marketing/PR
  • Fundraising
  • Staffing structure

An outside assessment is a key initiative that should be done on a regular basis to assess overall organizational health.
